Black Forest Fire | Colorado Springs Wedding Planner | Spruce Mountain Ranch | The Pinery Black Forest

Now that wedding season has slowed down- not yet over- but slowed down enough for me to breathe I am working on blogging!
In June, Colorado experienced another round of horrible fires, this time affecting the Black Forest area. Tia, my June 15th bride was scheduled to get married at The Pinery in Black Forest. Two days before her wedding she realized that The Pinery might no longer be her reception site. The fire had moved in quickly and created many evacuation zones around the area. Rumors had it the gas station across the street was affected, but no word on The Pinery itself. Tia called me and said with a surprisingly upbeat tone to her voice, "We are going to move the reception to my parents house. They have several acres in the Monument area and we can bring in a tent and rentals and have a beautiful reception there." I went over to their house that day to plan out the details. We went from The Pinery providing the venue, catering and rental needs to not knowing what they could provide due to the unknown of their own building. We booked all rentals just in case, a tent to protect from inclement weather and then started reaching out to all vendors to let them know of location change. That same afternoon Tia called me again, still upbeat and in her cheery voice she said that evacuation lines have moved farther out and are now affecting her parents home. As she is telling me this, they were in the process of packing up her families home along with all her wedding decor. She said "I have no idea where to go or what to do next for a venue." I told her this is why you hire a planner!

I called Tara with Spruce Mountain Ranch and asked if they had any availability on such short notice. As expected, Tara was willing to assist my bride and help her create her dream wedding. Finding a venue with one days notice in the middle of June seemed impossible and I am SO thankful Spruce Mountain Ranch had availability. I reached out to all vendors and let them know of the location change. 8 of her 12 vendors were affected by the fire due to evacuations. The venue alone, being inclusive, was responsible for the rentals, catering, floral, and DJ. With the outcome of their venue still up in the air, they pulled through and put Tia first! They provided everything they were suppose to except the venue of course and were amazing! I would recommend them to anyone! The videographer, photographer, myself, baker, photobooth were all in danger of the fire, but all gave our client 100%.

Tia was the most amazing bride to experience this with.  She said at one point, "I can let this experience ruin my wedding or I can just go with the flow and enjoy it. The most important thing is everyone is together and celebrating." She should win bride of the year in my book!
